In a major crackdown on illegal arms trade, the Punjab Police has busted an interstate weapons smuggling module, leading to the arrest of two arms suppliers from Madhya Pradesh.

Arrests and Recovery of Firearms

According to the authorities, the arrested individuals have been identified as Harpal Singh from Khargone district and Kishore Singh Rathore from Bharwani district in Madhya Pradesh. The police have recovered a cache of 17 pistols of .32 bore along with 35 magazines from the accused.

Tracing the Supply Chain

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the recovered weapons were meant to be supplied to criminal gangs associated with notorious gangsters Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Ravi Balachauria. The police were able to trace the origin of the firearms to interstate weapon manufacturers and suppliers suspected to be based in the Khargone and Bharwani districts of Madhya Pradesh.

Busting the Smuggling Module

The breakthrough in the case came after the arrest of one Lovedeep alias Love from Jalandhar, from whom the police had recovered a pistol and two cartridges. This led the investigators to uncover the larger interstate weapons smuggling module, culminating in the arrests of Harpal Singh and Kishore Singh Rathore.

Significance of the Crackdown

The busting of this interstate weapons smuggling module is a significant achievement for the Punjab Police, as it has disrupted the supply chain of illegal firearms into the state. The recovery of a substantial cache of weapons has also prevented these firearms from being used in criminal activities, potentially saving lives.

Ongoing Efforts

The Punjab Police has registered a case under Section 25 of the Arms Act against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the smuggling network. The authorities are committed to maintaining law and order and curbing the menace of illegal arms trade in the state. In conclusion, the Punjab Police’s successful operation in busting the interstate weapons smuggling module is a testament to their dedication and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the citizens. This crackdown on the illegal arms trade will have a significant impact on the region’s law and order situation.
