The judicial custody of suspect Aaftab Amin Poonawala in the murder of Shraddha Walker was extended by another 14 days on Friday by Delhi’s Saket court.
Aaftab Amin Poonawala, the suspect in the murder of Shraddha Walker, had his judicial custody extended by an additional 14 days by Delhi’s Saket court on Friday. He has demanded some legal reference materials. Additionally, the court has ordered the authorities to give him warm clothing.
Aaftab Poonawala, 28, is accused of murdering Shraddha in May and dismembering her body into 35 pieces, which he allegedly kept in a 300-liter refrigerator at his home in Mehrauli, south Delhi, for about three weeks before disposing of them across the city over a number of days. After detaining Aaftab in response to a complaint made by Shraddha’s father, the Delhi Police said that they had finally solved the six-month-old murder case. Aaftab and Shraddha moved in together after meeting on a dating website. As the relationship developed, they moved to a rented house in Chhatarpur.
On November 10, Delhi Police filed an FIR after receiving a complaint from Shraddha’s father. After questioning the suspect further, it was discovered that Aaftab had killed Shraddha on May 18 and had then begun looking into ways to dispose of the body. Delhi Police discovered that he also took inspiration for disposal from well-known criminal shows on his streaming gadgets. Before slicing up his girlfriend’s body, he admitted to authorities that he had read up on human anatomy.
