Mumbai police recently detained two Bangladeshi nationals for unlawfully residing in the city. This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigration, which has intensified following high-profile incidents involving foreign nationals. The two individuals were apprehended in Versova, a locality in Mumbai, and were unable to provide valid documentation to justify their stay in India.

In January 2025 alone, the police reported that over 160 Bangladeshi nationals were detained as part of this ongoing effort.
