Delhi MCD Mayor Election 2023: On Friday, the newly elected council members are expected to take the oath of office and the mayor and deputy mayor will be chosen. This is the first municipal House following the crucial civic elections on December 4.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are poised to square off in today’s eagerly awaited campaign for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi mayoral elections. The Delhi Congress will not vote in today’s mayoral election for the city’s civic council. Anil Chaudhary, the head of the Delhi Congress, stated that the party’s decision to oppose the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP in the contests for the positions of mayor, deputy mayor and leader of the house in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has been made by a unanimous vote. “Three councilors were chosen by Congress to lead the party in the MCD in a secret vote. Nazia Danish will serve as the party’s leader in the MCD, with Sheetal serving as her deputy and Shagufta as her advisor. The top whip will be Chaudhary, he said.

The mayoral election is scheduled for one month following the December 7 vote counting. By winning 134 wards in the MCD elections, the AAP put an end to the BJP’s 15-year hold on the local body. The Congress gained nine seats in the 250-member municipal House, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 104 wards to finish in second place.
