Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was the victim of a violent attack at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, early on January 16, 2025. An intruder armed with a Hexa blade and a wooden stick broke into Khan’s home around 2:30 AM, leading to a confrontation that resulted in the actor sustaining multiple stab wounds. The attacker reportedly demanded ₹1 crore before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent a five-hour emergency surgery to address severe injuries, including damage to his thoracic spinal cord. The surgical team successfully removed a knife lodged in his spine and repaired a leak in his spinal fluid. Doctors confirmed that Khan is now out of danger and recovering well, although he remains under close observation in the intensive care unit (ICU).
As the investigation unfolds, Mumbai Police have deployed 20 teams to track down the assailant, who remains at large. They are utilizing CCTV footage from the building and gathering forensic evidence to identify the suspect. Initial reports indicate that the intruder may have entered through a duct since there were no signs of forced entry15. The police described the attacker as a slim man in his late 30s or early 40s, captured on camera fleeing the scene shortly after the attack.
Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children were present during the incident but were unharmed. Their nanny, who first encountered the intruder, sustained injuries while trying to protect Khan’s youngest son, Jeh. She recounted the harrowing experience of waking up to find the attacker approaching Jeh’s bed and intervening before Khan emerged from their bedroom.
In light of these events, doctors are expected to consult with Khan’s family regarding his transfer to a regular ward as he continues his recovery. The family has requested privacy during this challenging time as they process the traumatic incident and its implications for their safety moving forward.
