Air Ambulance Crash in Jharkhand Kills All 7 Onboard

24-FEB-2026, 3:04 PM In a devastating incident in eastern India, an air ambulance crashed in the densely forested Chatra district of Jharkhand, killing all seven people on board, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The flight, which had departed from Ranchi en route to New Delhi, was carrying a patient being transferred for medical treatment along with the flight crew and medical personnel.


🚁 Details of the Crash

The Beechcraft C90 air ambulance, operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, took off from Ranchi Airport around 7:11 pm on Monday. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aircraft lost communication and radar contact approximately 20 minutes after takeoff. It crashed near Simaria in Chatra district, a remote area with thick forest cover.

Chatra Deputy Commissioner Keerthishree G confirmed that all seven people on board were killed in the crash. The victims included the pilot, co-pilot, the patient, medical personnel, and attendants. Rescue teams later recovered the bodies from the crash site and brought them to local facilities for post-mortem examinations.

The air ambulance was transporting a 41-year-old patient with severe burn injuries, who was being transferred to New Delhi for advanced treatment. Joining him were medical staff, two attendants, and the flight crew. The loss has deeply affected the patient’s family and the wider community.
