Rossouw Lauds Bowlers as Rahul and Harpreet Shine.

02-05-2024, Thur.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, batter Rilee Rossouw of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) praised bowlers Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar, calling them “phenomenal” for their performance against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The Punjab-based team defeated Chennai by seven wickets on Wednesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The Punjab bowling attack was spearheaded by Harpreet and Rahul, who took two wickets and gave the CSK hitters very few runs. Rahul conceded just 16 runs, compared to Harpreet’s 17 runs. Rossouw struck out 43 runs from 23 balls with a strike percentage of 186.96 during the second innings. He hit two sixes and five fours. In the twelfth over, he was removed by Shardul Thakur, ending his stay at the crease. Speaking at the press conference following the game, Rossouw stated that Harpreet and Rahul are playing well, which would help them throughout the tournament. “They have been providing us with excellent service. Chahar is a good bowler. Brar has demonstrated consistency. They are always keeping things straightforward and wicket-to-wicket.being in play to award them a wicket, regardless of whether the ball is spinning or not. They have been outstanding for us, particularly in terms of the economy.” A press statement from PBKS cited Rossouw as stating.

He continued by saying that the Kings must approach the current T20 competition one match at a time.
“We simply need to focus on one game at a time. We’re going to Dharamsala, where the wickets are flatter and harder. The allure of the Indian Premier League is that anybody can defeat anybody. Every other ball, you have to be at the top of your game. We want to concentrate on the next game, and we still have four games left. In Dharamsala, we’ll concentrate on our energies. Let’s concentrate on our outcomes,” he continued.

Recalling the game, PBKS easily chased down 163 with more than two overs remaining, putting an end to the bright yellow wave in the Chepauk stands.
The choice made by acting captain Sam Curran to put CSK in to bat proved to be the right one, as the dew factor became an obstacle for the CSK bowlers in the latter part of the game.

Leading from the front, MS Dhoni added the final touches at the end to propel CSK to 162/7. Ruturaj Gaikwad hit 62 off 48 deliveries.
In response, PBKS hitters chased 163 with little effort at all. A 64-run partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw turned the tide entirely in their favour.
Curran and Shashank Singh completed the task, giving PBKS a 7-wicket victory.
