Mumbai Police have arrested a man in Chhattisgarh for allegedly issuing death threats to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The suspect, identified asย Faizan Khan, a lawyer from Raipur, was apprehended following an investigation into a threatening call received by the Bandra police station last week. The caller demanded โ‚น50 lakh, stating, “if he doesnโ€™t give me 50 lakh rupees, I will kill him” while referencing Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, located in Bandra.

The threat call was made on November 7 and was attended by police constable Santosh Ghodke. During the call, the unidentified caller provided a name, “Hindustani,” but did not reveal his identity before disconnecting. This prompted the Mumbai Police to initiate an inquiry, leading them to Faizan Khan after tracing the call to a phone number registered in his name.

Faizan claimed that his phone had been stolen prior to the incident and that he had filed a police report regarding its lossย Upon being summoned by the police for questioning, Faizan failed to appear, which led to his arrest at his home in Raipur. He is currently being interrogated by Mumbai Police and is expected to be brought to Mumbai for further investigation. Authorities have registered an extortion case against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with criminal intimidation and threats of serious injury.

This incident comes amid heightened security concerns for Shah Rukh Khan and fellow actor Salman Khan, who has also received threats linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In response to these threats, security measures around both actors’ residences have been intensified. Shah Rukh Khan’s security was upgraded to Y+ category earlier this year due to similar threats following the release of his films “Pathaan” and “Jawan,” which had generated significant public interest and scrutiny.

The ongoing situation highlights the increasing risks faced by public figures in India, raising questions about their safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing such threats. As investigations continue, both fans and industry insiders are anxiously awaiting further developments in this alarming case.
