The Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier begins today, November 21, 2024, and will continue until January 5, 2025. This significant event occurs every ten years in Goa, attracting pilgrims and tourists from around the globe to venerate the relics of St. Francis Xavier, a prominent Spanish Jesuit missionary and co-founder of the Society of Jesus. During this 45-day exposition, the incorruptible remains of St. Francis Xavier will be displayed for public veneration at the Sé Cathedral in Old Goa. The event will commence with a private ceremony where a four-century-old silver glass casket containing the saint’s relics will be lowered from its resting place in the Basilica of Bom Jesus.
