Hoshiyar Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Dehra, attacked the state government shortly after casting his vote in the Dehra assembly constituency in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. He claimed that the government “eased half of their (BJP)’s work by trying to ‘dominate’ and’scare’ people.”

“In Himachal Pradesh’s history, this election has been the most thrilling and challenging. I was standing by myself, but there was also the Chief Minister and the whole apparatus of the administration. The battle is hard,” Singh stated on Wednesday in an interview with ANI.
The chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is accused by the BJP leader of “using the administration to exert influence over people.”
“We impacted the people, while they used the administration to impose their will… The government’s attempts to control and intimidate the populace made half of our work easier. The CM won’t be around for very long,” he said.

Thirteen assembly constituencies in seven states—Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh—have begun to cast ballots for the assembly by-elections.
The Speaker took the resignations of three independent MLAs who left the House and joined the BJP, leaving the assembly segments in Hamirpur, Nalagarh, and Dehra empty.
The Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Kamlesh (53), who is also the wife of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Hoshiyar Singh (57), and independent candidates Sulekha Devi (59), Arun Ankesh Syal (34), and Advocate Sanjay Sharma (56), are running in the Dehra segment of the Kangra district.
